KCC Scholarship Opportunity
The Kevin’s Community Center Scholarship will be awarded to students during their Senior year of High School. This scholarship is intended for those pursuing careers in healthcare, social work, and communities and organizations that help people in need. Applications are to be submitted to the KCC Scholarship Committee. All information submitted will be held in confidence and used solely for the purpose of scholarship administration.
Scholarships will be awarded to 4 applicants
• $5,000 Kevin Taweh Memorial Scholarship
• $3,500 KCC/Mary Nielson Memorial Scholarship
• $2,500 KCC/Ginger Kick Memorial Scholarship
• $2,500 KCC/Elias Taweh Memorial Scholarship
Instructions for submission:
Complete application and be sure to include your name on each page. You may use additional pages if needed.
One letter of recommendation is required. Recommendation should be from a teacher, coach or mentor who has been responsible for evaluating your work and must be printed or typed and included with your submission. (Recommendation letters used for college applications are acceptable.)
Acceptance letter from college that applicant will be attending in fall.
Completed applications and supporting items are to be submitted by April 25, 2025, to the address below or via email to kevintaweh@gmail.com. Scholarships will be awarded at awards night on May 28, 2025.
Fairfield Hills Music Festival
The inaugural Fairfield Hills Music Festival will take place on Saturday, May 17th, 2025, from 12 pm to 10 pm at Homestead Field on the Fairfield Hills campus in Newtown, CT. The festival will feature an eclectic mix of New England-based artists, including Deep Banana Blackout, Slambovian Circus of Dreams, Adam Ezra, Jake Kulak and The Modern Vandals, Mile Marker Zero, and Max Wareham and the National Bluegrass Team. It promises a diverse lineup for fans of funk, folk, blues, rock, and bluegrass.
Hosted by Kevin’s Community Center, the festival supports the nonprofit’s 20-year mission to promote community health in Newtown. All event proceeds will benefit KCC’s public health initiatives. In addition to great music, attendees can enjoy food trucks, local breweries and vineyards, and family-friendly activities.

Kevin’s Coffee Corner
Kevin’s Community Center is thrilled to announce an exciting new initiative: Kevin’s Coffee Corner! This cafe will be a unique and welcoming space staffed by special needs children and young adults from our community, providing them with valuable work experience, fostering inclusion, and creating a wonderful gathering place for everyone in Newtown.
To bring this vision to life, we are seeking a dedicated and experienced Project Manager/Program coordinator to oversee the development and launch of Kevin’s Coffee Corner. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of our special needs community members and contribute to a more inclusive Newtown.
About the Project
Kevin’s Coffee Corner will be located in Newtown. The Project Manager will play a crucial role in all aspects of the project, including…
- Planning and Development: Overseeing the design and construction/renovation of the cafe space, including kitchen equipment, seating arrangements, and accessibility considerations.
- Budget Management: Developing and managing the project budget, ensuring cost-effectiveness and securing necessary funding.
- Team Coordination: Working with contractors, vendors, and volunteers to ensure the project stays on schedule and within budget.
- Community Outreach: Engaging with the Newtown community to build support for Kevin’s Coffee Corner and promote its mission.
- Staff Training and Onboarding: Developing and implementing training programs for the special needs staff, ensuring they are prepared for their roles in the cafe.
- Launch and Operations: Establishing initial operating procedures.
Qualifications
We are seeking a Project Manager with the following qualifications:
- Proven experience in project management, preferably in the restaurant and non-profit sectors.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people, including individuals with special needs.
- Passion for creating inclusive opportunities for all members of our community.
- Experience with budget management and fundraising is a plus.
